Nancy Wiley LICSW, founder of Odonata and Phoenix Rising.
Nancy is currently establishing an Equine Assisted Trauma Program at Smithfield Equestrian Center in East Falmouth. This program will begin September 1st, 2019. Nancy will work with all ages, families, and veterans, and active service members and their family. The work will involve groundwork with horses, kiting with quad kites, and low level adventure courses.
There will be the ongoing trauma sessions and we will also add groups for children, military and veteran families, and a Community Service group for kids and adults in need of community service hours.
We look forward to seeing you on the farm!
Phoenix Rising began as a way to continue the journey of the past, but to also give the client a challenge after the journey - the challenge to move forward, to build and develop into the person you were born to be. We can be a place to re-envision yourself, challenge yourself to the opportunities you have available now that the pain is over. Let us help you reinvent yourself. We still work within the theories and ideas of Odonata - she will never be far from our work. The Dragonfly created us! We celebrate our past - you can too!
Odonata began in Nancy's basement in 2013, as a private practice. Her plan at the time was to see trauma clients and guide them through the stages of becoming a survivor of their past. It was not long before she new the basement was too small and a larger plan was needed.
The new plan began as Odonata moved to Buzzards Bay and she began hiring folks with trauma informed care training. The short term goal was to work with trauma victims. The long term goal took hold when Odonata and Bill Ferney came together.
Our goals at the beginning of 2016 were to begin a continuity of care in recovery services using trauma informed care and motivational interviewing. Bringing on a few new partners and utilizing their input and skills, brought this goal to fruition.
Nancy has trained in Ambiguous Loss, Retrospection Therapy as it relates to all forms of trauma, and is certified in Psychodrama. As a trained Bowen Family therapist, Nancy works with intergenerational family issues, working with genograms to resolve unhealthy patterns and boundaries. Her work can involve intergenerational group work if necessary for healing.
